The Maharaja Agrasen Business School’s One-Day Entrepreneurship Program

To allow PGDM Students to dive into the world of entrepreneurship, develop innovative business ideas, and gain hands-on experience in the art of running a business, Maharaja Agrasen Business School, Delhi NCR’s premier industry anchored business school, recently conducted an exciting and insightful one-day Entrepreneurship Program, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The program, which took place in the vibrant neighborhoods of Delhi provided a unique platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to explore their creativity and business acumen.

“Small Picks, Big Smile” — with this simple belief, our one-day entrepreneurial journey turned into an experience of creativity, collaboration, and customer delight.

As part of the Entrepreneurship Day activity at Maharaja Agrasen Business School

The team —

  • Nancy Singh
  • Isha Rai
  • Shishir Mehrotra
  • Harsh Nakra

came together with a shared goal: to build a micro-business in just one day with a budget of ₹4000. Thus was born Pretty Picks, a handcrafted, customizable gift hamper brand aimed at delivering thoughtful, affordable, and heartwarming presents.

The Idea: Gifting with a Personal Touch

In a fast-moving world, personal gestures stand out. We wanted to create something that didn’t just look pretty but also carried an emotional value. Our curated hampers included:

  • Hair clips, scrunchies, claw clips
  • Cute earrings and fashion accessories
  • Handmade crochet keychains (a unique addition)
  • And a Choco Pie in every box — because “Meethas bhi zaruri hai!”

Each box was hand-decorated with flowers, stickers, and crafted with care — making it more than just a product; it was a personal experience.

Sourcing & Setup:

We sourced our materials from the bustling markets of Sadar Bazaar and Sarojini Nagar — the heart of Delhi’s wholesale and trendy fashion scene. Boxes, decorative items, and accessories were bought at the best prices to maintain cost-efficiency and quality.

We also took special care in branding and packaging. With our name — Pretty Picks — and the tagline “Small Picks, Big Smile”, we created a logo, flyer, and visual identity that added a professional touch to our venture.

What Made Us Different?

Beyond the accessories and presentation, what truly made Pretty Picks special was:

  • customized gifting approach
  • Option to add handmade crochet keychains
  • A sweet treat inside every hamper
  • Affordable pricing at ₹250–₹300 per box
  • Thoughtful, ready-to-gift packaging for birthdays, friendships, or self-love moments

The Location: Connaught Place (CP)

We sold our hampers both:

  • Locally within our personal networks (friends, family, WhatsApp, Instagram)
  • In Connaught Place (CP) — one of Delhi’s most popular high-footfall areas

This mix of offline and word-of-mouth selling helped us reach our audience in a meaningful way.

Learning Outcomes from Pretty Picks

The Entrepreneurship Program at Maharaja Agrasen Business School wasn’t just about theory; it was a hands-on experience that imparted several valuable lessons to the participants. Some of the key learning outcomes included:

Brainstorming & Ideation

Our journey began with a burst of ideas and creativity. As a team, we sat down to brainstorm how we could start a unique business with a minimal budget of ₹4000. After several rounds of discussion, Pretty Picks was born — a personalized gifting solution offering beautifully packed boxes with accessories and sweet treats. This stage taught us the importance of innovation, idea validation, and market relevancy.

Budgeting, Costing & Financial Analysis

Sourcing from Sadar Bazaar and Sarojini Nagar, we ensured we got quality products at the best prices. We carefully tracked all expenses — from packaging to product materials — and calculated our per-box cost to set a reasonable price range (₹250–₹300).
This hands-on experience helped us understand profit margins, pricing strategies, and real-time budget management.

Market Exposure & Sales

We explored multiple selling channels — including local streets of Connaught Place (CP) and our own social circles — to maximize outreach. This gave us exposure to how real markets work, how customer psychology plays a role, and what it takes to stand out in a crowded environment.

Customer Interaction

Selling Pretty Picks wasn’t just about the product — it was about connecting with people. We developed communication skills, learned to pitch our product creatively, and adapted our tone based on the audience — whether college going, gift seekers, or impulse buyers.

Reading Customer Mindset

We closely observed how different people reacted to colours, box sizes, and contents. Based on that, we began suggesting customizations, offered crochet keychains, and added a Choco Pie for an emotional “sweet” touch.
This process helped us understand consumer behaviour and decision-making patterns.

Account Management

Every team member was responsible for updating sales logs and tracking cash flow. From noting purchases to calculating profits, this experience taught us the value of basic accounting, teamwork in finance, and financial discipline.

Coordination & Teamwork

With four members — Nancy, Isha, Shishir, and Harsh — our success depended on coordination. We divided tasks based on strengths — sourcing, designing, selling, and finance. This process helped us appreciate the value of collaboration, leadership, and responsibility sharing.

Presentation & Branding

We invested time in designing our brand name, tagline, flyers, and posters — knowing how visual appeal drives sales. Creating “Pretty Picks – Small Picks, Big Smile” helped us position our brand as thoughtful and aesthetic. This taught us how branding and packaging can make or break a product.

Achievements – Pretty Picks

The Entrepreneurship Day at Maharaja Agrasen Business School provided an incredible platform for budding entrepreneurs to explore real-world business opportunities. One such inspiring venture was Pretty Picks — a creative and heartfelt gifting brand launched by students Nancy, Isha, Shishir, and Harsh.

What started as a small idea quickly transformed into a well-executed one-day business model. From sourcing products at wholesale rates to branding, packaging, and selling — every step was handled by the team with passion and professionalism.

Total Sales: ₹9000
Total Profit: ₹5000

But these numbers reflect much more than just financial success. They symbolize the entrepreneurial mindset, adaptability, and teamwork demonstrated by the group.

Whether it was designing the “Pretty Picks” brand identity, curating personalized gift boxes, adding emotional touches like crochet keychains and sweet treats, or confidently pitching their products at Connaught Place and local circles, the students exhibited true entrepreneurial grit.

More importantly, we learned how to:

  • Work under budget constraints
  • Study customer behaviour
  • Promote products creatively
  • Divide roles and coordinate as a team
  • Adapt marketing strategies based on audience and location

The journey of Pretty Picks is a powerful reminder that entrepreneurship isn’t just about profits — it’s about learning, growing, and creating value.

This success story highlights how the Entrepreneurship Program at MABS empowers students to convert their ideas into action and gain hands-on experience that will benefit them throughout their careers. It proves that with the right mindset and collaborative spirit, even a one-day initiative can leave a lasting impact.
